Practice
Tryphania (Try) Mayfield was a staff nurse for 20 years prior to becoming an educator. Work history includes four years as a Childbirth Educator with Texas Health Resources, including writing curriculum and teaching using a variety of modalities. In Spring 2021, Try took on the role of an adjunct instructor with SWAU before accepting the position of Online RN To BS Program Coordinator in 2022. Try continues to advocate for the online student and values the benefits and flexibility of online learning. She complements this with contractual work with SWAU that includes running Skills Labs, Simulation Labs, and filling in as needed.
Service
Try is an active member of her church, where she also volunteers. She is a member of the Women’s Fellowship and active in her small group. Community service has remained important to Try, especially using her skill set as a nurse within her community. In 2022 Try started a local STI testing program out of the Cleburne Pregnancy Center (CPC). CPC provides a local resource for women in crisis. This clinic is run on Thursdays in Johnson County.
