Bruce Wayne Prindle was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 22, 1956, as the youngest of four children born to William J. Prindle and Lois Chambers Prindle. He was raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and was educated in Seventh-day Adventist schools. Bruce attended academy in Dallas and Keene, then took college courses at Southwestern Adventist University. It was in Keene that he met his wife, Claudette Fowler, of New Mexico, with whom he had three sons, Zachary, Caleb, and Casey. Bruce owned and operated an automotive salvage business in Alvarado until his untimely death in 1987, when he lost his life in a highway truck collision.

Former classmates, friends, and business associates remember Bruce as an avid sports fan who loved football and basketball. In addition to being a fan, he also officiated at many North Texas organized basketball games, on both the high school and junior college levels. Bruce was greatly loved and admired by those who knew him, and his death left a great void. He was generous and empathetic with all in need. A trust fund in his memory was endowed by Marie Prindle, step-grandmother to Bruce. Helping Southwestern Adventist University students meet their educational goals is a fitting tribute to a man who believed in generosity and who enjoyed meeting and helping people.

Scholarship award requirements

The Bruce Prindle Scholarship is awarded to an elementary education major based on academic achievement and financial need.
