Charles Popejoy was born in Dallas, Texas, on March 28, 1940. He was raised in Dallas and attended Dallas Junior Academy. In 1965, he attended Southwestern Union College and worked at Brandom Kitchens to pay for his education. His friends say he was "the most giving person in the world." He loved the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he volunteered his time as well as his financial support. He was employed for 14 years as head of shipping for Missionary Tape and Equipment Supply in Garland, Texas, and he lived in Keene, Texas. He died in May 1989.
