Ed and Janelle Reifsnyder met at his parents home when Janelle came to visit a mutual friend who was visiting the Reifsnyder family. Ed was impressed, and apparently Janelle was too. They married in 1965.
Ed was born in Maryland. He attended Southern Adventist University and earned a master's degree in management from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Ed is a Certified Public Accountant. He has made a career in healthcare management. Ed volunteers his time as a Sabbath School teacher at the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church and serves on the boards of Southwestern Adventist University and Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South.
Janelle was born in South Carolina. She graduated from Fletcher School of Nursing and is a registered nurse specializing in psychiatric nursing. She devoted herself full-time to their two daughters, Amy and Heather, when they were growing up. Janelle is also an avid reader.
The Reifsnyders realized there are many ways to support Southwestern financially, but they wanted to invest directly in the future of students. "We are confident that the recipients of the scholarship will make vital contributions to the Kingdom of Heaven and to our society, even though it is unlikely that we will know how they invest their lives and energy in the future," say Ed and Janelle. "In Heaven we can get together and find out."
