The reason for the LeAnn Marie Santiago Scholarship Fund is to honor her Christlike example in every phase of her life. From our early days of courtship, through the unfolding years of motherhood, even while our children were still in the womb, she would read to them about the love of Christ. As a spouse, she exemplified the fruit of the Spirit like no one I have ever known. When I was deciding whether or not to follow the call to pastoral ministry, she not only supported my decision but encouraged me that it was the right one. Her desire to honor God gave her the strength to leave the comfort and security of her familiar surroundings not really knowing how things were going to work out. She had a strong faith and an even stronger godly love that flowed out to her family and to those with whom she associated.
While at Southwestern we received a scholarship award that came at a most critical juncture. I will never forget the joy in her heart and praise on her lips for how God had provided once again! I know LeAnn would fully support the decision to establish a scholarship fund and would encourage it to be done. LeAnn took great joy in being a blessing to others, and I pray that her legacy can in some small way be carried on through the establishment of the LeAnn Marie Santiago Scholarship Fund.
