Southwestern Adventist University proudly joined forces with the Cleburne Railroaders minor league baseball team to host a groundbreaking STEM Day at the Cleburne Railroaders Stadium. The event, a first of its kind, welcomed over 1500 elementary school students from Johnson County, along with 50 teachers, for an immersive experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
SWAU faculty from the STEM disciplines, supported by Pathways staff and the Advancement Office, curated hands-on activities that sparked curiosity and learning among the young participants. From physics experiments to chemistry demonstrations and even a chance to handle dinosaur bones, the event provided invaluable educational opportunities outside the classroom.
Students eagerly engaged with SWAU faculty, who showcased the wonders of science through interactive displays and engaging presentations. Each student received SWAU bookmarks, stickers, and pencils, adding to the excitement and memorabilia of the day.
"We were thrilled to partner with the Cleburne Railroaders in bringing STEM education to our local community," said Tom Bunch, Grant Writer at SWAU. "It was a joy to see so many enthusiastic young minds exploring the world of science and discovering new possibilities."
SWAU remains committed to fostering education and community engagement through innovative initiatives like STEM Day. As a proud sponsor alongside the Cleburne Railroaders, SWAU looks forward to continuing its mission of inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators.
