Apr 1 2019 - 6:45pm
On April 11-14, Southwestern Adventist University will host its annual Homecoming weekend, inviting alums from all over the world to join in the festivities. This celebration will be the finale of the University’s 125thyear birthday celebration. “We have so many fun things planned,” shares Vonda Seals, Southwestern Adventist University Alumni Director. “This is definitely an event you won’t want to miss!”
The weekend will begin Thursday evening with a banquet featuring a fun-filled surprise for entertainment, celebration of our honorees, and a special “Welcome home” dinner. On Friday, guests will have the opportunity to support students and compete with fellow Southwestern Adventist University alumni in an 18-hole golf tournament. Friday night vespers will feature the Department of Music’s University Singers.
Southwestern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists President, Elder Larry R. Moore, will deliver a Sabbath morning message during both main sanctuary worship services at the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Dominik Alipoon, from the Oklahoma Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, will lead the Elevate service. A potluck lunch for both alumni and community members will follow the church services. In the afternoon, members of the honor classes are invited to come together for class photos. Southwestern Adventist University’s Dinosaur Science Museum and other University departments will also be open for visitors. Homecoming Sabbath will close with a reunion concert by vocal ensemble One Desire. Saturday evening’s class parties followed by Sunday morning’s soccer games, disk golf, and a breakfast buffet will wrap up this activity-filled 125thBirthday homecoming weekend.
For the young alumni, ages up to 35 and for the young at heart, the alumni team has planned some very special events. Volleyball and basketball Knights Unite tournaments on Saturday night and a young alumni BBQ on Sunday are examples of fun activities geared toward the newest members of the alumni family.
