I graduated from Southwestern Adventist University in 2009 with a degree in English and a minor in religion. It was an easy choice for me to attend Southwestern. I knew I wanted to attend an Adventist college as I hoped to maintain a close relationship with God even as I worked to achieve a higher education.
I had not expected to find five teachers with PhDs in the English department. I was bowled over to find so many qualified teachers in my area of study in a small private school. Southwestern also has a vibrant drama program and so many extracurricular activities that allow their students to keep as busy as they wish while pursuing their education.
My husband, Gavin (Class of 2008) and I met while attending SWAU and married after we had both completed our coursework. We currently live in Conroe, TX where I work as Language Arts and English teacher for grades 7-12 at the Adventist Christian Academy of Texas. I have an amazing opportunity to reach young people and help impact them and lead them towards a fulfilling future. I hope that for each of my students their futures will center around a love for Christ first. For my fellow teachers, and myself, Christ is the whole reason for the ministry we serve in daily.
