Southwestern Adventist University to Host Community Coffee Hour

Southwestern Adventist University to Host Community Coffee Hour

By:
Tim Kosaka

Southwestern Adventist University invites you to its first Community Coffee Hour happening on January 16, 2020. Community Coffee Hour is the University’s way of creating a time and space for our local business and community leaders to network and to experience the beauty of the University’s campus.

Community Coffee Hour will feature delicious breakfast options, coffee, live music by the Department of Music, and more. While the event is targeted toward Johnson County's business leaders, everyone is invited, and admission is free. University President Dr. Ken Shaw will offer brief remarks and department leaders will offer tours of the $16 million state-of–the-art nursing facility, Dinosaur Science Museum, and new studio for 88.3 The Journey FM.

Tours

The University invites guests to tour any or all three of the following venues! If guests are interested in a full campus tour or if they would like more information about potentially enrolling at Southwestern Adventist University, they can visit swau.edu/visit.

Dinosaur Science Museum

The University’s world-renown Dinosaur Science Museum features a repository of over 30,000 bones. With a collection that continues to grow each summer, the museum now houses one of the largest dinosaur fossil collections in the United States! The museum, which is free and open to the public, is the feature of The Dig, a brand-new television series that premiered January 3rd.

88.3 The Journey FM

88.3 The Journey is a non-profit, listener-supported Christian radio station owned and operated by Southwestern Adventist University. In a world that needs hope, joy, and meaningful relationships, The Journey takes to heart the words of Micah 6:8. Their pledge to listeners is to share mercy as God shares His mercy with us and to walk humbly with you on this Walk of Life. In 2019, the radio station moved to their brand-new facility where they record programs that broadcast to thousands of homes across and beyond Johnson County.

The Department of Nursing

In 2018, Southwestern Adventist University unveiled its brand-new Larry R. Moore Nursing and Administration Building. Beyond its beautiful lobby, welcoming office spaces, and extensive natural lighting, the building features state-of-the-art skills lab and simulation rooms with technology that prepares students for their future career.
