The Department of Kinesiology provides classes and support for majors in:

  • Exercise Science
  • Health and Fitness
  • Sports and Fitness Management
  • Physical Education

  • Coaching

Health and fitness classes also support the general studies students in fitness, wellness, and physical education. In the basic fitness and wellness classes, you will be guided through a personal fitness program where we help you cultivate a proactive wellness lifestyle based on Seventh-day Adventist principles. Infrastructure to the University is provided by the operation of a fitness/recreation center that is available to all students and faculty.

Application to Careers

 

  • Students may elect courses that prepare them for careers as elementary or secondary physical education teachers.
  • A major in Physical Education will also prepare the student for a career in the public or private sector of recreation.
  • Exercise Science is an excellent pre-professional course of study for exercise physiology, physical therapy or other areas of medicine.
  • A major in Health and Fitness prepares the student to become a certified personal trainer and find a career in the hospital, corporate or private fitness industry.
  • The Sports and Fitness Management major is for students interested in running a health club or managing a sports team.

Regardless of your major, you will be prepared for graduate school.

In this degree, you’ll study how the body functions, the importance of nutrition, kinesiology fundamentals, fitness promotion tactics, and stress management.

B.S. Sports & Fitness Management

Do you have a passion for playing sports and an active lifestyle? Then maybe the perfect career for you is in sports and fitness management! A B.S. in Sports and Fitness Management prepares you to manage health clubs and sports teams.

B.S. Physical Education, Teaching Certification (K – 12)

A.S. Health & Fitness

The A.S. Health and Fitness degree is a two-year program aimed to help you get started in the health and fitness career field. With this degree, you will be prepared to help people improve their physical fitness for health or athletic performance in hospitals, health clubs, or private fitness centers.
