B.A. History, International Relations, and Public Policy

The Department of History and Social Science offers a combined B.A. in History, International Relations, and Public Policy. This degree combines three specific emphases: History, international relations, and public policy.

• History gives students an understanding of historical events and how it shaped today’s government and political policies.
• International relations is the study of the world’s societies and the interactions between them. With this, students will learn diplomacy and foreign policy.
• Public policy is the broad study of government laws, regulations, court decisions, and local ordinances that deal with housing, agriculture, economic development, and foreign affairs.

Each course is designed to help develop a broad understanding of the world’s historical, cultural, and governmental realities. Through the study of history, politics, and society, we help students analyze current events and learn to anticipate what may come.

Career Field


With a B.A. in History, International Relations, and Public Policy, there are several possible career paths to follow. Depending on what type of career you choose, you could:

• Analyze relations between the United States and foreign countries.
• Use historical documents to develop theories about historical trends.
• Use quantitative methods, such as statistical analysis, to test theories.
