LOMA LINDA, Cal. -- From a renowned dinosaur dig in his work for Southwestern Adventist University, fossil expert Dr. Arthur Chadwick will appear in IS GENESIS HISTORY?--a new documentary about Earth’s origins, in theatres one night only, Thursday, Feb. 23.

In the film, Dr. Chadwick joins leading scientists and thinkers such as philosopher of science Paul Nelson, geologist Andrew Snelling, and paleontologist Marcus Ross, all factoring God into empirical evidence for Earth’s beginnings. Humanities scholar and notable biblical Hebrew expert Steven Boyd, PhD., goes to the original Hebrew text of Genesis 1 and sets the film’s theme by asking: “Is it poetry? Is it myth? Or is it history?”

To help answer, Dr. Chadwick explains to the film’s host, Dr. Del Tackett, how taphonomy--the study of how decaying organisms become fossils--relates to the Bible’s accounts of creation. Dr. Tackett will ask similarly foundational questions to experts in geology, biology, astronomy, archaeology, the Bible and more.

  • Was the universe created in a literal six days?
  • Did human beings evolve from something else?
  • Were Adam and Eve real?
  • Was there a global flood?
  • What happened to the dinosaurs?

“Southwestern Adventist University’s support has me in one of the world’s most incredible research sites,” Dr. Chadwick says. “What a privilege to share discoveries this way. For anyone questioning the Bible, its trustworthiness, and its central message of hope, here are reliable answers.”

As a Fathom Event, on Feb. 23, IS GENESIS HISTORY? will play in theaters one night only. Fathom events also include Met Live performances, classic films, sporting events and faith-based blockbusters. Hundreds of theaters already are booked.

Dr. Tackett, host of IS GENESIS HISTORY? and creator of Focus on the Family’s Truth Project says the film will be used long term by churches and schools. “The world needs to be reminded of life’s only true source of peace,” Tackett said. “We want to draw people to the Bible and its ultimate truth, salvation through Jesus Christ, our Creator and Redeemer.”
