Karen Vallejos-Corrales gradated from Southwestern Adventist University in 2015 with a double major in international business and history. Afterwards, Karen received her law degree from Washington and Less School of Law.
“The knowledge I gained in business and finance principles from the Department of Business Administration allowed me to comprehend how laws and regulations can impact businesses.
“My experience at SWAU also allowed me to develop leadership and management skills through participation in Enactus. With Enactus, I was able to utilize skills learned in the classroom and apply them to real-world initiatives to improve conditions for under-resourced communities. Above all, the department’s ongoing efforts to promote knowledge while emphasizing service encouraged me to look for ways in which I could use my strengths to better the community around me.
Karen now works for Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid (TRLA), the nation’s third-largest legal aid provider, which provides legal services to low-income people facing most forms of civil legal problems.
