Rachel Cox is a current student pursing  the online RN to BS  nursing program offered by Southwestern Adventist University. She received her associate degree in nursing from Southern Adventist University, spent a year as a volunteer abroad and is now employed at Fountainview Academy, a boarding high school in Canada. Rachel seeks to work in a field where she can help heal people, and SWAUonline has proven to be the perfect fit for her as she prepares for the future.

As someone with a full-time job, the flexibility of SWAU’s online nursing program has been very helpful. Rachel’s professors are accommodating to her busy schedule and happily support her through virtual office hours. Courses are recorded and available on demand, allowing her to study and complete assignments when most convenient for her.

Rachel is seeking to earn her BS in nursing as quickly as possible, eight-week course options make it possible for her to complete her degree in under a year, in a total of 40 weeks of coursework to be exact. Not only does this mean that she’ll be able to pursue her dream career more quickly, but she will be saving money in the process, earning her entire degree for just $7,500.

“A flexible and affordable degree option was key when I was deciding where to continue my education, but SWAU stood out for the Christian experience it would provide,” shares Rachel. “I love how even though I am hundreds of kilometers from Texas, I can still be part of the SWAU experience through my academic, social and spiritual journey.”

As someone who has attended larger institutions, Rachel appreciates how close students are able to become with not only university employees, but also with fellow students. Chaplains are available to listen, advise and pray with students via video office hours, the campus’ Center for Academic Success and Advising offers virtual tutoring for courses, and a variety of virtual small groups and worship experiences keep online students connected with each other and with Christ.

Rachel hopes to eventually become a nurse practitioner or perhaps a physician. Southwestern Adventist University’s flexible, affordable and Christian approach to online learning is paving the way for her success.
