I am a Seventh-day Adventist immigrant from Belize. When I was three years old, my parents chose to move to Keene, Texas so that I could have the opportunity to receive a Christian education through the Seventh-day Adventist School system. I am thankful for their sacrifice. I attended Keene Adventist Elementary School, Chisholm Trail Academy, and I now am a senior biology major with a biomedical emphasis at Southwestern Adventist University. I love the Keene community and have enjoyed the relationships I have developed here. I enjoy music, scenery, and playing with my dogs. I also love fitness and health and have a passion for both science and food.
My career goal is to become an ophthalmologist. I believe this specialty is very suited for missionary work. Ophthalmology combines both surgical and medical aspects of medicine and since the procedures are not that invasive, they can be performed more easily in the mission field. My goal is to provide healthcare for underserved communities. I like how medicine can accomplish that. My other dreams include raising a family and traveling.
Every semester it is a huge struggle to pay the school bill. Being an international student, funding opportunities are very limited. The scholarship funds I receive enable me to continue my education at Southwestern Adventist University. Your generosity has inspired me to pay it forward in order to help students like me struggling to finance their education.
