B.S. Biochemistry
A B.S. in Biochemistry will help you to understand the chemical behavior of biological systems. Students will be guided through the chemical behavior and chemical properties of the proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleotides that make up the biological system. They will also receive a deep understanding of the various aspects of metabolism that occur in biological systems.
Our exciting and challenging biochemistry program combines a set of courses that give students the opportunity to develop a strong competency in chemistry, mathematics, molecular biology, physics and biology.
A B.S. in Biochemistry will help students to narrow their study into a specific area of biochemistry. This means students will have an in depth understanding of a specific area of biochemistry that they want to pursue.
The Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences is equipped with a wide range of instrumental tools designed to give students hands-on experience in modern methods of chemical, biochemical, and physical methods of analysis and problem solving. With a B.S. in Biochemistry, SWAU graduates will be prepared for immediate employment at the entry level in many different types of chemical and biochemical laboratory settings.
A number of courses in this program are offered by the Department of Biological Sciences.
