His work has taken him to many interesting locations across six continents, such as the Arctic Circle, Amazon Rainforest, Canaima National Park of Venezuela, Buenos Aires, Tibet, Addis Ababa, and Moscow.

As a media producer and filmmaker, Kim has been part of independent and corporate projects, exploring human rights, global health, special education, and the intersection of faith and social justice. His work has screened at domestic and international festivals, public television, major universities, and industry events. Kim has received numerous festival and juried awards including a CINE Golden Eagle.

Professor Kim earned his Master of Fine Arts in Film and Electronic Media from the American University in Washington, D.C. He has also served as a graduate fellow in the Center for Media & Social Impact funded through a major public media grant given by the Ford Foundation, and directed a collaborative new media literacy project with Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab.
