Besides handwashing and social distancing, what can we all do to minimize our chances of getting the Corona virus and do our part to flatten the curve? CREATION Health has the answer!

Choice:  Choose to adopt good health practices in your life so you can stay healthy. Great choices stack up to decrease your chance of getting COVID-19.

Rest:  Your body can’t fight infection well if you’re tired, run-down, worn out.  So get 7-8 hours of sleep every night, consistently. Take time out from your day and your week to relax and rest. Your body needs it, and so does your mind.

Environment:  You’re now spending a lot of time at home – so make sure you can function well in your environment – whether it’s your dorm room or your house. Be sure you have a place where you can study effectively -- an environment without chaos.  Get outdoors when you can (of course within the limits of social distancing). And wherever you are, don’t forget to keep your immediate environment clean and sanitized to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Activity:  Physical exercise helps your immune system. Get outside in the fresh air to exercise if you can. Exercise not only builds strength – it also helps to build a natural defense against disease.

Trust:  In these unsettled times, it’s easy to be anxious, stressed, or depressed. God has given us the best remedy for these feelings. He invites us to bring our fears to Him because He cares for us and loves us.  In Isaiah 41:10, He tell us “Fear not, for I am with you…I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Interpersonal relationships:  Oh, the challenge of maintaining relationships in the midst of social distancing. Make time each day to connect with others, online or by phone –to friends, family, classmates, teachers.  Also, reach out to someone who may be feeling lonely. Did you know that positive relationships help boost your immune system too?

Outlook:  Stay positive! Look for the bright side of any situation. Count the blessings you do have, even though life isn’t the way you planned right now. Positive people benefit themselves and others.

Nutrition:  Eat nutritious food. Stay away from sugar and free fats since those lower your ability to fight infection. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables every day.  Drink a lot of water too.

Following these CREATION Health principles is the best thing we can all do to stay healthy and flatten the curve of COVID-19.  Let’s join the CREATION Health challenge!
