Southwestern Adventist University’s Department of Music will present a unique concert featuring five pianos being played simultaneously. Twenty-two musicians will perform, including Department of Music students and faculty and community members. The concert is made possible by the sponsorship of Collora Piano of Dallas Fort Worth, who will provide four additional grand pianos. The concert will also feature guest clinician and conductor Richard Capp.

“This is the second year we’ve been able to present this concert to our community,” says Dr. Devon Howard, Music Department Chair and Director of Keyboard and Theory Studies. “We hope to make this a new tradition. It is a challenge to pull together and is not something you get to see every day so we hope the community comes to enjoy the fun with us.”

The musicians include retired teachers from the Johnson County public school system, community members, and students from Miss Dorla’s Piano Studio. The ages of the musicians range from 6 years old to retirement age. The pianos that will be played are worth over half a million dollars, including a rare Italian-made Fazioli piano.

The concert will take place in the Wharton Auditorium in the Mabee Center at 303 W Magnolia on Thursday, April 5, at 7:30pm. It is free and the community is very welcome to attend.
