Southwestern Adventist University welcomed over 600 alumni to the campus this past weekend for the annual Homecoming event. The alumni traveled from all over the country to visit their alma mater. During the festivities, Southwestern celebrated the groundbreaking of the Larry R. Moore Nursing and Administration Building, honored eight alumni for their contributions to their communities and their University at the annual Homecoming banquet, and hosted events all weekend long.

The weekend was event packed with special music performances by the University Singers and Symphony Orchestra, guest speakers featuring our alumni, a golf tournament, a disc golf tournament, a 5k, an alumni vs. current students basketball, soccer, and volleyball games, and more. The full bios for the honorees and weekend photos can be viewed at swau.edu/homecoming or by visiting our Facebook page at facebook.com/swaualumni.

The weekend also included several fundraising events. The Golf Classic raised $32,100 towards the First in Family Scholarship, a new record for that event. The Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show was established with more than 80 participants. In the future, the show will benefit the Finish Line Scholarship. The 5k, organized completely by students to raise awareness and funds to fight human trafficking, raised $700. Altogether, the students have raised $3252 towards their $10,000 goal.  Watch swau.edu/SLADcharity for upcoming events to support this cause.
