Southwestern Adventist University's Department of Music partnered with Saint Stephen's Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth to host a concert to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Peace this last week. In conjunction with the world-wide peace awareness project, A Voice 4 Peace, the concert also featured the Burton Academy Chorale, directed by SWAU alum Travis Simpson. Guest soloists included Rogerio Nunes on the violin, Dr. Devon Howard on the organ, and Mitchell Crawford on the organ.

In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly organized the International Day of Peace on September 21, encouraging organizations and individuals the world over to promote peace, education for public awareness, and cooperate with a global ceasefire. The event will also feature artwork correlating with the peace theme from Southwestern Adventist University and Chisholm Trail Academy students. This is the third year that Southwestern and St. Stephen's have partnered together on this concert.

"We are happy to continue this relationship with St. Stephen's, especially for such an important event," says Dr. Devon Howard, music department chair. "It is very special to join voices with our community in promoting peace."
