SWORD Program

SWORD, which stands for Soul-Winning Outreach Discipleship, is a Bible Worker Certification Program that combines college-based classwork with practical training in literature evangelism, outreach, public evangelism, discipleship and church planting.

This program is available to ALL students from any department and to laypeople in both the Fall and Spring semesters.

 

Application Process

  2. Apply at www.swau.edu/ 
    1. Deadline for Fall Semester: August 1, 2020
    2. Deadline for Spring Semester: January 15, 2021
  3. To submit your application, you will need:
    1. Application form
    2. 3 recommendations (pastor, church member, non-family) to Pastor Swoopes
    3. 2-page essay to Pastor Swoopes with the following 4 elements:
      1. Your conversion story
        1. A conversion story is the reason or situation that helped you decide to be baptized or the events around your personal decision to follow Jesus.
      2. Your current involvement in ministry
      3. Your goals in relation to this program
      4. If your ZIP code were the very last one in the world to be reached for Jesus, what would you do?
  4. Contact Pastor Tony Correa to arrange outreach activity (labs).

Careers

This program is tailored toward any student, church member or any professional who is looking for personal evangelistic training. The emphasis is on how to bring people to know the Gospel of Jesus Christ as presented in the Bible. There will be hands-on training that gives an opportunity to each participant to experience the great commission of Matthew 28:19: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
