B.A. Religion

A B.A. Religion from the Southwestern Adventist University Religion Department will give you a solid foundation by helping you:

  • Understand the mission and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • Explain and apply Christian principles
  • Address issues of faith within the Seventh-day Adventist context
  • Effectively communicate and research religious findings
  • Explore the history and diversity of religions

Many of our graduates are accepted into Seminary or enter graduate programs for chaplaincy, counseling or teaching.

A B.A. Religion is for students looking for a Biblical understanding without a pastoral training. This degree can be combined with another major such as education or nursing, preparing students for mission by equipping them with a strong Biblical knowledge.

Educational Qualifications

A B.A. Religion prepares students for service while also providing personal enrichment. This program enables students to study major religious traditions and Biblical issues and teachings with critical insight into current issues, thus allowing a deeper investigation of the Biblical text and its historical impact.  Students develop general knowledge of the liberal arts disciplines while developing a greater depth of knowledge in various aspects of religion.
