Southwestern Adventist University, in partnership with Texas Theatre, proudly sponsors a benefit screening of the documentary The Mountain Within featuring a Q&A with the films composer, Emmy award-winner Michael Price (BBC Sherlock), and director Kyle Portbury, a professor at Southwestern.  The documentary follows the emotional and physical journey of seven disabled adults as they attempt to climb one of the most feared and revered mountains – Mount Kilimanjaro.

Price is one of England’s most sought-after and established composers. Rolling Stone described his debut album on Erased Tapes Records, Entanglement, as “gorgeous.” Price’s work for film and television has also been widely recognized, winning an Emmy award in 2014 and receiving two further Emmy nominations for the critically acclaimed BBC series Sherlock.

The screening will benefit two local charities that work with disabled children and adults. Community Opportunities, Inc. (COI) is a non-profit agency located in Keene, Texas, whose purpose is to provide life opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing skills training, job placement, and social activities. Wedgwood Academy is a non-profit organization located in Fort Worth, Texas, dedicated to the education of those special children and adults with learning differences and ADHD. Wedgwood is also in the process of forming a new program for adult skills training.

Audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with both Price and Portbury, when they can ask questions about the film or other aspects of their profession. The screening will take place at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth on Sunday, April 3, at 7:30pm. Doors open at 7:00pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at swau.edu/charityscreening.

The idea for the screening came about after Southwestern's Enactus team did a entrepreneurial project with Community Opportunities, Inc.
